Rotating PDF pages: what to know
Why pages end up sideways
Rotated pages usually come from scanners and phone cameras that guess orientation wrongly, from landscape tables inserted into portrait reports, or from documents assembled out of several sources. A sideways page is hard to read on screen and prints in the wrong direction, so fixing it before sharing saves the reader the trouble.
Rotate all or individual pages
Use Rotate All Pages when the entire document is turned the same way, for example a scan fed into the scanner upside down. Use the individual page controls when only a few pages are off. Each rotation is in steps of 90 degrees, so two clicks give 180 degrees and three give 270 degrees. Each page shows its current rotation before you apply it.
How rotation is stored
Rotation is saved as a property of each page, the same way desktop PDF editors do it. The page content itself is not redrawn or recompressed, so text stays selectable and image quality is unchanged. Any PDF viewer will show the page in its new orientation.
Privacy
Everything happens in your browser. The file is read from your device, the rotation is written into a new copy in memory, and that copy is offered as a download. Nothing is sent to a server, so the tool is safe to use with confidential documents.
Tips
If a page still looks wrong after rotating, it may have been scanned at a slight angle; rotation only works in 90-degree steps and does not straighten skewed scans. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked before their pages can be rotated.
